Vice President Ma'ruf Amin: Presidential Candidate Uploads Habits Of Prayer, Don't Interpret Identity Politics
Vice President Ma'ruf Amin assessed that the upload of one of the presidential candidates related to worship habits, such as prayer, should not be interpreted as a form of identity political campaign.
Ma'ruf also reminded the presidential and vice presidential candidates not to use their habits in worship as campaign issues.
"As for the habits of each, for example, the habits of his life, then there are those who post him again or pray again, yes, I don't think it means identity politics, that's a habit," said the Vice President after attending the Pledge of Referring to the Diversity of the Archipelago at the North Sumatra Provincial Government Multipurpose Sports Center, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 19.
According to Vice President Ma'ruf, all pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates must be committed not to use identity politics.
The Vice President explained, based on religious views, a person who is fully religious should not deny the national agreement called mitsaq al watani, namely in the form of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
According to Ma'ruf, an intact Muslim will not leave, let alone injure the national agreement by clashing with religion and nationality.
"Don't give any party a gap to destabilize the Republic of Indonesia, including efforts to clash against religion and nationality. Religious and national affairs in Indonesia have been completed, there has been no conflict between religion and Pancasila, between religion and nationality," said Ma'ruf.
