Untad Laboratory Corruption Case, Prosecutors Check 4 Officials

PALU - The Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) examined four officials related to the alleged corruption case of laboratory medical devices at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Tadulako University (Untad) Palu.

"The four people were questioned in connection with the alleged corruption crime," said Acting Head of the Central Sulawesi Attorney General's Office, Abdul Haris Kiay, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 19.

The four people examined by investigators were FD, TS, NS and DV. The examination was carried out on October 16-17, 2023.

The case has been upgraded to the investigation stage based on Sprindik Number: Print 03/P.2/Fd.1/09/2023, Thursday (7/9).

"The four officials in the Untad neighborhood status as witnesses," he said.

Based on the data obtained, it is suspected that there has been a criminal act of corruption in the procurement of laboratory equipment at the Untad Health Faculty for the 2022 fiscal year with a number of modes.

In 2022, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Untad submitted a letter requesting the procurement of educational laboratory equipment to the Untad Chancellor by attaching a list of 105 equipment needs.

On June 2, 2022, the tender process with a total ceiling of more than Rp. 13 billion was announced.

Of the 74 tools contained in the Budget Plan (RAB), 15 percent of them are overhead costs, 5 percent delivery costs and 11 percent total VAT 31 percent by mentioning the specifications of tools, brands and models.

"This case continues to be investigated by investigators," said Haris.

From the investigation file, the tender for fuel for the laboratory equipment procurement project was won by CV SBA with an offering value of more than Rp. 12 billion.

However, on its way, it is suspected that there are several irregularities, among others, the winner of the tender has not included a single item until September 2022.

"All forms of mode are carried out, of course they will be developed in the investigation process," he said.

Finally, price checks were carried out through a catalog of 74 iteemper equipment according to specifications, the total budget spent was only more than IDR 5.4 billion.

"Based on calculations, it was found that the alleged mark up or price inflation was more than Rp. 7 billion," said Haris.
