Ministry Of Transportation Sends Investigation Team To Drop Argo Semeru Train

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) sent emergency response officers to evacuate and investigate the incident of the Argo Semeru train drop in a cross-section between Sentolo-Wates Station, Kulon Progo Regency, DIY.

"Currently, the evacuation team is in the field to evacuate and secure passengers. The evacuation team in the field has also coordinated to bring in a series of heavy equipment and rescue locomotives to evacuate the affected facilities," said Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation Risal Wasal as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 17.

Meanwhile, for the evacuation of passengers, said Risal, a series of extraordinary trains (KLB) have also been sent from Yogyakarta.

In addition, the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) is also coordinating intensively with the emergency response team to ensure there are no casualties.

"At the same time exploring the chronology of the incident for further handling steps," said Risal.

The Ministry of Transportation also expressed concern over the incident involving the Argo Semeru train (KA) with the train registration number 17 on the Surabaya Gubeng-Gambir route.

The incident took place in a cross-section between Sentolo-Wates Station Km 520+4 on Tuesday at 13.15 WIB. Some time later, at 13.25 WIB, Argo Wilis' 6 train series came from the west and crossed Argo Semeru's train series. As a result, the cross-section of the scene cannot be passed in either direction.

Based on the data collected, there are currently three minor injuries being handled by the KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta health team. Daop 6 also reported no casualties in the incident.

Meanwhile, the next effort from KAI was to evacuate two series of trains and repair damaged rail lines.

For the train journey that will pass in the Wates-Sentolo area, KAI will engineer an operating pattern in the form of a fund-scattering road.
