Brunei Darussalam Coach Wants To Revenge Defeat At Home
JAKARTA The Brunei National Team Coach Darussalam Mario Rivera is eyeing revenge after being defeated by Indonesia with a landslide score in the first match of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone. Rivera wants her team to rise in the second match which takes place at home.
Brunei lost 0-6 while playing away for the first leg against Indonesia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Thursday, October 12, 2023.
"Congratulations to Indonesia for winning the match," said the Spaniard in a press conference after the match.
"For the home game, we will try to win the game for our supporters. We know that this match is difficult, but we want to try to win it," he added.
This defeat made Brunei's chance to reach the second round of the four-year prestigious event qualification even smaller. In order to qualify they must be able to beat Indonesia with a landslide score of 7-0 in the second leg match at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium on Tuesday, October 17.
Rivera said winning with a score like that would not be easy. However, he and his team will try their best to win the game.
"The most important thing is that we know our strengths and Indonesia's weaknesses, then we will try to use them to win the game," he said.
In the victory against Brunei, three of them were scored by Dimas Drajad. Meanwhile, the other three goals were scored by Ramadhan Sananta and one Rizky Ridho. This big victory made the Indonesian opportunity open in the second half.
