Puan UU Jepang Lebih Banyak Investasi Ke Proyek Strategis RI

In a series of working visits to the country of the sunrise, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, met with the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yasutoshi Nishimura. In front of Minister Nishimura, he invited Japanese companies to invest more and more in various national strategic projects (PSN) Indonesia.

Puan's meeting with Minister Nishimura took place at the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, Japan, Wednesday, October 11 evening local time. He was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of Commission IX DPR RI Charles Honoris, Member of Commission V DPR RI Irine Yusiana Roba Putri and Secretary General of the DPR RI Indra Iskandar.

Puan's meeting with Minister Nishimura himself was a return visit after the Japanese Minister of Economy was welcomed at the Indonesian Parliament Building in early September last year. At the beginning of the meeting, Puan expressed her appreciation for the 65 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan.

Puan then talked about the importance of parliament's role in diplomatic relations between countries. This is because parliament is a representation of the people.

As Indonesia's strategic partner, Puan invites Japan to increase cooperation in the economic sector, especially in accessing the Indonesian fishery product market to Japan related to the Indonesia Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA).

"I also hope that Japan will provide flexibility for the import regulations for fishery, coffee and sorbitol products. Then give greater access in Japan regarding the acceptance of workers in the tourism sector," hoped the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Then in the investment sector, Puan invited Japan to increase investment in various Indonesian PSNs. Moreover, Japan is the second largest investor in Indonesia in recent decades.

"I also invite Japanese investment in the strategic sector in Indonesia such as infrastructure, energy, transportation and the electric vehicle industry," said Puan.

On the other hand, Puan mentioned the need for a timely completion of investment projects in the construction of development projects in Indonesia that have the support of Japan.

As is known, there are several national strategic projects that have the support of Japanese investors. Such as the MRT Jakarta project whose success of the construction project cannot be separated from Japan's role through collaboration with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) for its technical and financial support.

Then there is the Patimban Port construction project, where JICA also provides a loan of funds to Indonesia in the project which was built through the 3 stages. Phase 1 was built from 2018 to 2021, and stage 1-l2 was carried out in 2022 until 2025, then the next stage will continue in stages 2 and 3.

Puan said that the timeliness of development can create a healthy investment environment.

"I also hope for a timely completion of the development of strategic infrastructure supported by Japan, namely the Jakarta MRT project, and the Patimban port," said Bung Karno's grandson.

With a large number of Indonesia-Japan cooperation for 65 years, Puan hopes that the relations between the two countries in the future can be even closer. Especially in the economic sector.

"I note that many things have been done in the context of economic cooperation between the two countries. But of course there is always room to improve it," concluded Puan.
