Overstay Since 2019, 2 Nigerian Citizens In Cianjur Threatened With 5 Years In Prison And A Fine Of IDR 500 Million
CIANJUR - The Immigration Office of Non TPI Cianjur, West Java, handed over two foreign nationals (WNA) from Nigeria with the initials OBE (43) and CKC (42) to the Cianjur District Attorney. Both will be tried because they have committed immigration crimes.Head of the West Java Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, R Andika Dwi Prasetya, said that the Civil Servant Investigator (PPNS) of the Class III Immigration Office Non TPI Cianjur had finished investigating and the case file was declared complete or P21 by the Cianjur District Attorney."The case began with the arrest of the two suspects by the Intelligence and Enforcement Team of the Class III Immigration Office Non TPI Cianjur on July 11, 2023 at the Cimacan Hospital," he said in Cianjur, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 10.The results of the development and examination of the immigration documents of both are known to have expired passports.The passport document for the suspect OBE expires on October 11, 2022, while the passport of the suspect CKC expires on May 15, 2019, including the residence permit of both of them has exceeded the limit or overstay since 2019."The two foreigners are suspected of committing immigration crimes as referred to in Article 119 paragraph 1 of Law Number 6/2011 concerning Immigration with a maximum imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of IDR 500 million," he said.Head of the Immigration Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in West Java, Yayan Indriana, explained that the two foreigners from Nigeria came to Indonesia using a visit visa until the expiration of their validity did not renew and still live in Indonesia.Visa visits, he said, many of them are for tourism, business and family, while the two foreigners come to Indonesia for tourism, family and business visits, but until a predetermined time do not extend the residence permit."After being handed over to the Cianjur Kejari, the two suspects will undergo the law enforcement process through a trial at the Cianjur District Court. This is the first case in West Java in 2023, we appreciate the performance of the Cianjur Immigration Office team," he said.
The Cianjur Immigration Office, he added, will continue to take law enforcement actions against any violations in order to create a deterrent effect for the perpetrators of immigration crimes.
