Hyundai has again reached a milestone in the Indonesian automotive market. This was achieved by one of its leading electric vehicles, Ioniq 5.
Based on sales data collected during the first eight months of 2023, the electricity crossover managed to occupy the top position as a car market leader with prices above Rp700 million with an 18.9 percent share segment.
"Seeing the positive response we have received so far this year, Hyundai expresses its gratitude for the enthusiasm of consumers who have placed confidence in the Hyundai vehicle model as a choice of daily needs," said Franciscus Soerjopranoto, as Chief Operating Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID), in a statement received by VOI, Thursday, October 5.
This positive achievement continues to the Stargazer model which accounts for a 15.7 percent market share in the Jabodetabek area. Then, retail sales for the January-August 2023 period, this South Korean manufacturer also leads the car market with a price tag above Rp700 million with a market share of 31.7 percent.
Thus, Hyundai Ioniq 5 managed to secure the top position in the segment. Then, other Hyundai-owned models followed like the Palisade which was in 3rd position.
Furthermore, the MPV sales occupy second positions in DKI Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bogor, as well as occupy second positions in the Greater Jakarta area, as well as third positions in Depok and Bekasi as indicated by the average sales throughout January-August 2023.
Overall, the retail sales achieved by the manufacturer in August 2023 increased by 40 percent compared to July 2023, both in terms of volume and market share.
This impressive performance was driven by the extraordinary response from Indonesian consumers to Stargazer and Creta, which are currently the two best-selling Hyundai models in the country.
