Asian Games 2023 Results: Ginting To Quarter Finals, Mixed Doubles Out In The Last 16
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles badminton player, Anthony Ginting managed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Games. However, a similar result failed to be achieved by Putri Kusuma Wardani and representatives in doubles.
Anthony Ginting confirmed the move to the quarter-finals after meeting Singapore's representative, Jia Heng Jason Teh. Appearing at Binjiang Gymnasium on Wednesday, October 4 afternoon WIB Ginting became the only men's singles Indonesian representative after Jonatan Christie lost in the second half.
Ginting won the quarter-finals after he won in two straight games with a final score of 21-14 and 21-18. The meeting in the third round was the first time for the two badminton players to meet and Ginting managed to secure victory.
Previously, Putri Kusuma Wardani, who was in the women's singles number, failed to secure victory from India's representative, Pusarla Sindhu. Putri KW fell in two games with the final results 16-21 and 16-21.
After Putri KW, who appeared to be the opener, it was the turn of the women's doubles represented by Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi to appear. Facing China's first seed, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, Indonesia's representative, fell with a score of 5-21 and 17-21.
The Indonesian representatives also achieved failure after that, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari who fought Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino also could not qualify for the quarter-finals.
This mixed doubles fell with a score of 17-21 and 15-21. With Rinov/Pitha's defeat in the round of 16, Indonesia's representatives in the mixed doubles ended.
