AMBON - The Aru Islands Police, Maluku, arrested two students at BDL and OGL for alleged acts of abuse againstLYL, his schoolmate, resulting in the death of the victim.
The two students, both 16 years old, were suspected of committing acts of persecution on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, after returning from school.
The LYL victim received intensive treatment from the medical team at the Cenderawasih Hospital, Dobo, Aru Islands Regency, but the victim's life was not saved and died on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
"After being treated for several days at the Cenderawasih Hospital, the victim's life could not be saved. He died at around 14.30 WIT," said Aru Islands Police Chief AKBPDwi Bachtiar Rivaid, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 2.
The police chief revealed that the victim was abused by the alleged perpetrator of BDL until a blow hit the left jaw causing the victim to fall unconscious.
This case began when a fight broke out between Christian high school students Dobo since Thursday, September 21, 2023. A day later, the fight had been reconciled by the school.
"This is because someone provoked it, so the fight broke out again. What we have secured is the initials BDL as the alleged perpetrator of the beating of the victim. Meanwhile, this student with the initials OGL is the person who provoked it," said the Police Chief.
The Aru Islands Police have coordinated with all relevant parties, including religious leaders, community leaders and traditional leaders from both parties, so that this problem does not spread.
