NTB LHK Ensures Integrated Waste Management In The Mandalika MotoGP
MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara Environment and Forestry Service ensures integrated waste management readiness during the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit October 13-15, 2023.
"Untuk pengelolaan sampah dilakukan terintegrasi dengan konsep ikut dilakukan oleh MGPA dengan supervisi Kementerian LHK RI dan Dinas LHK NTB," kata Kepala Bidang Sampah dan Pengendalian Penyempuran Lingkungan Dinas Lingkungan dan Kehutanan NTB Firmansyah dilansir ANTARA, Senin, 18 September.
He explained, during MotoGP activities, waste management is divided into zones. The first is the main zone, namely in the circuit and the circuit ring zone with the main person in charge of MGPA. Meanwhile, waste outside the circuit will be managed by the NTB DLHK together with the LHK Office of Central Lombok Regency.
"All the garbage coming from the audience will be thrown away in temporary shelters (TPS) in the circuit area. The existence of this TPS is to ensure that all areas in MotoGP are covered as a whole," he said.
Firmansyah said that before going to the TPS, the garbage from the audience was put in the trash bins scattered throughout the circuit area. In total there are 800 trash bins prepared for the audience to put their trash. This number reflects on the time of the World Superbike (WSBK) and MotoGP 2022.
"In addition to preparing trash bins, waste sorting officers, drivers, transport vehicles, cleaners are also prepared. All of this is provided by MGPA, if the NTB LHK only prepares supervisors from the Zero Waste Task Force," explained Firmansyah.
Meanwhile, waste transportation is provided for three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles (pick ups) from the circuit area to the TPS that has been provided.
"Sampah yang berada di dalam maupun di luar circuit sudah dalam keadaan terpilah. Sedangkan di TPS dilakukan dengan pemilahan lagi, mana sampah organic maupun inorganik dan B3," ujarnya.
"If the recycling waste itself can reach 10 lists, starting to split, cardboard is different, plastic is different and plastic is also different. The number of personnel is more than 200 people, but if you look at WSBK, almost 100 people," he continued.

According to him, the amount of waste at the Mandalika Circuit during MotoGP is very dynamic depending on the number of viewers. If you reflect on WSBK 2022, the amount of waste collected is 66 tons.
"If the assumption is 50 thousand viewers a day, three days of implementation, the waste accumulation is estimated to be 0.4 so it can be 20 tons a day. So for three days the implementation of 60 tons. So the amount of waste this year is around that too," he said.
However, his party appealed to the audience to dispose of the garbage in its place so as not to disturb the environment.
"Besides the audience having started sorting the garbage according to the place, we hope the audience is involved in reminding other viewers to produce garbage and not to produce garbage carelessly, because often when the garbage event is not thrown in the trash but in the stands," he said.
