The Capital City Moves, Jakarta Residents Will Reprint DKI ID Cards as DKJ Next Year
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary (Sekda) Joko Agus Setyono said that millions of Jakarta residents will be asked to reprint their identity cards (KTP) starting next year.
The status of Jakarta's relocation of the capital city to the archipelago, East Kalimantan in 2024 will change. That is why, according to Joko, the inclusion of the DKI Jakarta province in the KTP needs to be changed to the Special Jakarta Region (DKJ).
"Yes, that will definitely change, the Special Capital Region will become a Special Region for Jakarta. Of course there must be adjustments to all identities. The KTP just needs to be reprinted," said Joko when met at the National Monument area, Monday, September 18.
Joko said that the DKI Provincial Government has begun preparing a budget for changes to administrative records due to the relocation of the capital city in preparing the Regional Budget (APBD) for the 2024 fiscal year.
Apart from that, the DKI Provincial Government is also waiting for the ratification of the revision of Law Number 29 of 2007 concerning the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta as the Capital of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
This regulatory change, he continued, will become the basis for the rules for determining DKJ status. Now, the revision of the DKI Provincial Government Law is being discussed in the House of Representatives (DPR).
"Later we will socialize it when the law is finished, because the draft law is in the process of being finalized," said Joko.
Previously, at the Jakarta Special Region Bill (RUU) meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Tuesday, September 12, the name DKI Jakarta would be changed to DKJ after the capital officially moved to the Capital of Archipelago (IKN).
The name change is as stated in Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning National Capital (IKN), which, referring to this law, means that Jakarta's status will change from previously being DKI to DKJ.
Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani explained that the DKJ Bill is an embodiment of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning National Capital. This regulation also replaces Law Number 29 of 2007.
"The transfer of the National Capital City based on the IKN Law will change the status of Jakarta, which was originally a Special Capital Region to become a Special Jakarta Region or DKJ," he said.
