11 Narcotics Cases Revealed By Karawang Police, One Of Them Sells Gorilla Tobacco Using Mobile Trader Mode

The Karawang Police have uncovered 11 cases of narcotics and hard drugs in the past month. One of them is the mode of posing as a traveling merchant using a cart.

"So there is a perpetrator who contracts in a rented house by pretending to be a mobile trader, using a cart. It turns out that he produces synthetic tobacco," said Head of Narcotics at the Karawang Police, AKP Arief Zaenal Abidin, during an exposure to the disclosure of the case at the Karawang Police Headquarters, Wednesday, September 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

The perpetrators of the mobile merchant mode sell gorilla tobacco or synthetic tobacco with the initials HB. The perpetrators of HB have been producing the illicit goods for about three months at their rented place.

For the mode of circulation, the perpetrator who was arrested last week pretended to be a mobile rice trader, using a cart.

Meanwhile, over the past month, the police from the Karawang Police Narcotics Unit have uncovered 11 specific narcotics, psychotropic and drug networks with 12 suspects.

Arief said that the disclosure of this case was the fruit of the formation of a tough drug-free village that made it easier for the police to monitor narcotics trafficking.

"The suspects were arrested at different places and times in the disclosure of drug abuse cases over the past month," said the Head of Narcotics at the Karawang Police.

From the hands of 12 suspects, the police confiscated evidence, including narcotics of the type of methamphetamine with a total of 119.07 grams. The methamphetamine came from 6 suspects.

Then narcotics of synthetic tobacco or gorilla tobacco weighing 313.77 grams, as well as 24 psychotropic narcotics from one suspect.

In addition, 17,488 items of narcotics of certain types of hard drugs from hexymer and tramadol were also confiscated from three suspects.

To account for his actions, the perpetrator is now being held at the Karawang Police Headquarters detention center. The suspects were charged with different articles in accordance with the type of narcotics circulated.

The perpetrators who circulated methamphetamine were subject to a lasal of 114 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with 112 Paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of life imprisonment or a minimum imprisonment of four years.

Furthermore, psychotropic dealers were charged with Article 62 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 1997 concerning Psychotropics with a maximum imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of IDR 100 million.

Meanwhile, certain hard drug dealers are threatened with Article 435 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
