Nusantara Sail 2023, Ajang Indonesia Proud To Be A Maritime Nation

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed the activities of Nusantara Sail 2023 showing the Indonesian nation as a maritime nation. "We want to show that we are a maritime nation, a seafaring nation as was done by our ancestors before," Basuki said at the opening of Nusantara Sail 2023 quoted by ANTARA, Saturday 9 September. He added, Nusantara Sail 2023 shows once again that Indonesia as a seafaring nation, and the sea is not a dividing but rather a liaison between islands in Indonesia. Laut became a natural bridge connecting and uniting Indonesia. Through Nusantara Sail 2023, the Indonesian nation concretely headed towards the State Capital (IKN) of this archipelago. Basuki hopes that Nusantara Sail in the following years will be followed by more participants. "Hopefully on August 17, 2024 we boyongan (shift) to IKN Nusantara with ships," he said. He also appealed to the participants of Nusantara Sail 2023 to check the preparation, equipment and equipment, so that they can arrive safely on the island of Balang, East Kalimantan as one of the shipping destinations. "Until we meet later, I welcome you later on Balang Island," he said. Nusantara Sail is a national sailing event initiated by the Ministry of PUPR to celebrate and present IKN Nusantara. This activity is the beginning of the development of IKN Nusantara which focuses on maritimes with the aim of making Indonesia the world maritime axis. This series of Nusantara Sahil 2023 events is the symbolic transfer of the State Capital from Jakarta to IKN Nusantara, East Kalimantan., East Kalimantan 2023 is also part of the Road to World Water Forum 10 which was held in Bali in 2024, and the celebration of the 59th Maritime Day. This activity starts from Jakarta, then moves to Bali, then towards IKN Nusantara and Samarinda.

Not only starting in Jakarta, the Nusantara Sail 2023 activity also started from other locations such as Makassar and Nunukan. Nusantara Sail 2023 was not only attended by national sailors, but also sailors from various countries such as Australia, Norway, Malaysia and South Africa.
