317 Disasters Occurred In Padang Pariaman In The Last 8 Months
PARIAMAN - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra noted that the area experienced 317 disaster events with billions of rupiah losses that occurred from January to August 2023.
"At least as a result of the disaster a number of residents died and dozens of people were injured," said Head of the Padang Pariaman BPBD, Budi Mulya, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.
He said the hundreds of disasters that befell Padang Pariaman consisted of floods, landslides, fallen trees due to hurricanes and strong winds, as well as erosion.
He conveyed that the most frequent disasters occurred in January, May, and July which hit a number of sub-districts in the area and even caused fatalities.
Given the high potential for disasters in Padang Pariaman, his party regularly urges residents to increase vigilance, especially in the last few days the area and its surroundings have been hit by light to heavy rain.
"(Especially for bad weather lately) We have not issued a standby, we only inform the public about early warning information regarding the extreme weather from BMKG on a regular basis," he said.
He hopes that with the residents increasing their vigilance, they can suppress the occurrence of victims due to the extreme weather that hit Padang Pariaman and its surroundings.
It is known that in the last few days Padang Pariaman and the surrounding area have experienced cloudy weather, which in some areas experienced light to heavy rain.
Previously, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra noted that the area suffered a loss of Rp1.8 billion due to disasters that occurred throughout 2022.

"At least 240 disasters occurred throughout 2022 in Padang Pariaman Regency which did not cause material losses but also casualties," said Padang Pariaman BPBD Chief Executive Budi Mulya in Parik Malintang.
He detailed that at least three residents died, three were injured, and 625 people were displaced.
