Puan Congratulates Anies-Cak Imin: All Parties Must Have Their Respective Strategies

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P DPP, Puan Maharani, congratulated Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) who had declared their duet as a candidate pair for president and vice president in the 2024 election.

"I congratulate the pair Mas Anies and Cak Imin who have declared themselves presidential and vice presidential candidates," said Puan at Vastenburg Fort, Solo, Central Java, Saturday, September 2, as stated in a written statement, quoted from Antara.

Regarding the maneuvers of Anies and the NasDem Party which seemed to have left the Democratic Party, Puan said that this was a political dynamic in the election contestation (election).

"All parties must have their respective strategies," said the chairman of the 2024 PDI-P Pilleg and Presidential Elections.

Previously, the DPP of the National Awakening Party (PKB) decided to accept the offer of political cooperation proposed by the NasDem Party to pair Anies-Cak Imin as a candidate for presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

The decision was made after the completion of the joint plenary meeting of the PKB DPP which was held at the East Java PKB Regional Leadership Council Office, Jalan Winanggal, Surabaya, Friday (1/9) afternoon.

"PKB welcomes the NasDem Party's offer to pair a presidential candidate and future vice presidential candidate, Anies-Muhaimin," said PKB DPP Secretary General Muhammad Hasannudin Wahid at the East Java PKB Regional Leadership Council Office.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party officially revoked its support for Anies Baswedan as well as leaving the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP) after the Democratic Party High Council held a meeting in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, Friday, September 1 night.

Furthermore, Anies-Cak Imin's declaration was held at one of the historic hotels, namely the Majapahit Hotel, Surabaya City, East Java, Saturday, September 2. The Anies-Cak Imin duet with the AMIN acronym is the first declaration of the presidential/cawapres candidate pair for the 2024 presidential election.

According to the KPU schedule, registration for presidential and vice presidential candidates will start from October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.

In Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu) it is stated that pairs of presidential/vice-presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential/vice-presidential candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
