Welcomed At GIIAS 2023, Mazda Has No Intention Of Selling MX-30 In Indonesia

JAKARTA - In an era where car manufacturers from the United States, Europe, China and South Korea are competing to present electric vehicles, some Japanese brands may look left behind.

One of them is Mazda. The manufacturer based in Fuchu, Hiroshima, Japan, only has one electric car, namely MX-30. However, the good news is that MX-30 is now present in Indonesia.

Through the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) some time ago, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), which is Mazda's Brand Holder Agent (APM) in Indonesia, introduced two units of MX-30 which were sold globally. The existence of this electric SUV received a warm welcome from the public.

Pramita Sari, Marketing & Communication General Manager of PT EMI, revealed that the public's response to MX-30 was very positive, with many interested in Mazda's first electric car.

"The response is quite good and many are interested in the EV (Electric Vehicle) model of Mazda's output," Pramita said when contacted by VOI, Friday, September 1.

Nevertheless, Pramita explained that Mazda MX-30 will not soon be launched in the Indonesian market. The presence of this car is only the first step to introduce it to consumers.

"However, when GIIAS yesterday, we only introduced it. So, there is no price yet and has not been officially launched for the Indonesian market," added Pramita.

Despite getting a lot of interest from the public, Mazda did not want to reveal how many consumers were interested in buying this car. This is because the MX-30 is not yet available in the Indonesian market.

"(Untuk Surat Pemesanan Kendaraan) Kita belum elIGible untuk jual MX-30," kata Pramita.

Mazda MX-30 represents Mazda's move in electric vehicles. The SUV is powered by a synchronous AC-type permanent electric motor with a power of 143 stances, as well as a front wheel drive and direct-drive transmission system.

This vehicle is equipped with a 32 kWh lithium-ion battery that is cooled with liquid and capable of traveling up to 161 km after one charge.

However, unfortunately, this travel distance is relatively low compared to other electric vehicles. Mazda MX-30 is sold for 34,110 US dollars or around Rp517.7 million in the United States market.
