Having Been Adding To The Indonesian Market For A Long Time, Honda Has No Plan To Change The Mobilio Model
JAKARTA - Since its introduction for the first time in 2001, Honda Mobilio has become a mobility solution for consumers who prioritize comfort with a large cabin capacity.
The first generation Honda Mobilio was introduced in Japan in 2001 designed as a recreational vehicle. Since then, Honda Mobilio has become Japan's best-selling vehicle before it was stopped production in 2008 and replaced by Freed.
After how long, the second generation of the mini MPV arrived in September 2013, taking a base from Honda Brio and marketed in Indonesia in early 2014.
After several times getting model refreshes, currently Honda Mobilio only provides a single variant, namely type S since April 2022. It has been almost a decade, but Mobilio has not changed the model or generation.
Although it is one of Honda's most recent products, in recent years LMPV with a capacity of seven seats has not been shown in any exhibition. Especially during the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), this car did not show its nose at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
Yulian Karfili, as the Communication Strategy Senior Manager of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), responded to this by saying that his party is currently still providing a Mobilio unit and has no plans to replace the model.
"Until now, Honda Mobilio has no plans to change models or generations in the near future. Until now, we have focused on the fleet market," said Yulian when contacted by VOI, Monday, August 28.
Currently, Honda Mobilio is a mainstay model of Honda which is focused on buying large quantities of products, such as taxi and office cars operational fleet vehicles.

However, some of its rivals in the LMPV class have refreshing their models, such as Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia, and All New Suzuki Ertiga. What's more, Honda has presented several model refreshes from various segments such as HR-V for B-SUV and BR-V segments in the LSUV class.
Nevertheless, Honda Mobilio has contributed a lot to the Indonesian automotive market, such as buying up four awards, namely "Car of the Year", "Best of The Best MPV", "Best Low MPV, and "Otoneters Car Favorite" in its 2014 debut.
