JAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin invites residents to use public transportation facilities.
Budi appealed to residents to reduce the use of private vehicles and switch to public transportation facilities to reduce air pollution that is hitting Jabodetabek.
"People can help make the air cleaner and healthier which makes the sky bluer by reducing using cars and motorbikes," he said after taking a leisurely walk on a motorized vehicle free day event aka CFD on Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Sunday, August 27, which was confiscated by Antara. Budi also advised residents to cycle, walk, and exercise regularly so that their bodies stay healthy.
"Now a lot of diseases are not due to lack of food, but because they mostly eat. So how do people like to eat, what should be reduced? No need. The important thing is a lot of exercise, walking a lot, riding a lot of bicycles, and running a lot," he said.
"So, don't forget to live a healthy life by moving a lot. Eating is okay, but more is issued by running, exercising, or riding a bicycle," he continued.

He revealed that the causes of air pollution in urban areas are mainly gas emissions from motorized vehicles as well as the operation of power plants and industrial machinery that use fossil fuels as energy sources.
