Vice President Reminds Political Choice Polarization Insecurity On Campus
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin reminded the vulnerability of polarization or division of political choices that may occur on campus if educational institutions are used as campaign places.
The vice president asked the General Elections Commission (KPU) to really oversee the implementation of campaign activities at educational institutions to avoid commotion.
"This must be maintained, so the technical rules by the KPU must be strictly (implemented), there is not the slightest gap in the possibility of conflict and division on campus," said Vice President Ma'ruf in his statement in Cirebon as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 26.
Previously, the Constitutional Court granted part of the petition for the review of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections submitted by the applicant named Handrey Mantiri.
The Amar Decision Number 65/PUU-XXI/2023 which was read out on August 15, 2023, includes allowing campaign activities in educational institutions with certain restrictions.
Referring to the decision, the Vice President appealed to campaign activities in the educational environment to emphasize political education, not political debate so that students get a good political experience.
"It is better if (the implementation) is more emphasized on political education, yes, not on debate," he said.

The Constitutional Court has restricted campaign activities in educational institutions by banning the use of certain attributes and other rules to prevent divisions.
Meskipun demikian, Wapres Ma'ruf menekankan tetap perlu adanya pengaturan yang detail terkait pelaksanaan kampanye di lingkungan pendidikan.
"Besides not bringing attributes, of course you have to present the three (all) presidential candidates, for example, so that they can be fair. Don't let such polarization become a split," said Ma'ruf Amin.
