Government Urges WFH Private Offices During ASEAN Summits In Jakarta
JAKARTA - The government urges private companies to implement work from home (WFH) during the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta.
"There has been a circular from the Ministry of PAN for ASN in DKI, and the circular from the Governor of DKI for ASN is mandatory, 50 percent WFH. There is an appeal to the private sector on September 5-7 is advised to conduct WFH," said Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat Setya Utama at the West Merdeka 9 Road to ASEAN Summit event reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 25.
Setya explained that WFH for private company employees is only an appeal, while for 50 percent of ASN is mandatory.
"And there is an appeal of 50 percent for ASN, but it will be increased by 75 percent for September 5-7," he said.
According to him, the policy was implemented to reduce air pollution and congestion in Jakarta in line with the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Adita Irawati hopes that the WFH appeal for private employees can also be applied for traffic effectiveness during the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
"Of course this requires cooperation from the community. A circular has been issued. Hopefully in 3 days the community can reduce mobility if it is not urgent, so that we can also provide maximum service to the delegates," said Adita.

The 43rd ASEAN Summit which will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on 5-7 September 2023.
The 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held in a plenary and treatment format which will be held on September 5, 2023. Then the following day the ASEAN Summit will be held with partner countries which will last until September 7, 2023.
On September 7, 2023, the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Plus Three Summit will also be held. On the sidelines of the summit series, a bilateral meeting will also be held between the leaders present.
