Cileungsi River Polluted, Residents Of Bogor To Bekasi Kiss Bau Busuk
BOGOR - Pollution of waste in the Cileungsi river, Bogor Regency, is getting more and more concerning. Almost a month, the color of the Cileungsi river water becomes thick black and gives rise to an unpleasant odor.
Pollution is thought to have originated from industrial waste in the Gunung Putri area to the estuary of the Bekasi river, which is the raw material for drinking water companies for residents of Bekasi City and Bekasi Regency.
The water discharge from the Cileungsi river, which is bigger than the Cikeas river, has an impact on the Bekasi river which has also turned black.
This condition makes two regional drinking water companies in the cities of Bekasi and Bekasi Regency no longer able to use the Bekasi river flow as a source of water raw materials for tens of thousands of residents.
According to the community head caring for the Cileungsi Cikeas (KP2C) Puarman river, the condition of the Cileungsi river began to turn black and thick in the Tlajung Udik area to Wanaherang, Gunung Putri District. Along this river, there are many industries that are suspected of disposing of waste into the river.
"This Cileungsi River from the end of last July was black and thick, because if there is no rain in a week, the water discharge is smaller and the waste is more dominant. Actually, it was bored because last year it was also like this, it has been 10 years. We hope that the KP2C will take firm action to close the factory and criminalize it," said Puarman, Friday, August 25.
One resident who lives on the banks of the Cileungsi river, Abdullah, said that the community again smelled a foul smell from the river flow which was black and thick in the Cileungsi river.
"For now, it's been a long time, but now it's more severe because it might be the dry season. If it smells really bad at night, waking up in the nose is very strong. It's very often almost every year," Abdullah said.
