A Gang Of Cross-Provincial ATM Burglars Arrested In Medan, Proceeds From Crime Of IDR 3 Billion
The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the North Sumatra Police revealed a syndicate of interprovincial inter-provincial robbery and burglary machines (ATM) specialists.
Officers have arrested three of the five suspects in separate places at different times, as well as paralyzed them because they tried to escape and fight the officers when arrested. Meanwhile, the two perpetrators who fled have now been identified as being in pursuit.
"The perpetrators have acted at 15 crime scenes in six provinces," said North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Pol Agung Setya Imam Effendi, when explaining the ATM machine robbery case, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 23.
Agung said the suspects in their actions were destructive by dismantling and taking money from ATMs. From the proceeds of these crimes, the robbers managed to earn more than IDR 3 billion.
The robbers always move to 15 crime scenes (TKP) in a number of provinces.
"More than Rp. 3 billion in money was taken at ATMs from 15 crime scenes," he said.
He said that currently his party is still pursuing two other perpetrators who fled.
"We are still chasing the other two robbers, and we will continue to try to arrest the perpetrators," he explained.
Meanwhile, the five suspects who have been arrested, namely MPS residents domiciled in South Sumatra (Sumsel), AH and IP residents of Riau, ASn residents of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) and LS residents of West Sumatra (West Sumatra).
Meanwhile, the two perpetrators who were on the wanted list (DPO) were YA and AL, residents of South Sumatra.
The North Sumatra Police Chief added that ATM burglary must be a concern for all parties, because of organized crimes.
"In the context of ATM machine burglary, it is my attention to dismantle networks like this," he said.

Agung explained that the suspect's first arrest had been carried out in South Sumatra, then developed until he managed to catch the other perpetrators.
"The perpetrator was charged with Article 65 in conjunction with Article 363 Paragraphs 1 to 3e, 4e and 5e of the Criminal Code concerning theft by weight, with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison," said the North Sumatra Police Chief.
