Hyundai Announces The Beginning Of The All-New Kona Electric Production Period In Europe
Hyundai Motor Group has announced the start of its first production from the All-New Kona Electric. The inaugural all-New Kona Electric assembly began at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMMC) factory located in the Czech Republic. The factory is also the first generation of Kona Electric assembly.
In its first year, HMMC has produced more than 20,000 units of Kona Electric. By continuing to its second generation, Hyundai made clear its commitment to only selling zero-emission vehicles in Europe in 2035.
Hyundai Motor Europe president and CEO Michael Cole said that the European market is very important, especially the demand for electric vehicles is very high. This is why Hyundai assembles All-New Kona Electric in European regions to save time.
"In response to the increasing demand for our electric vehicles in the region and focusing on shortening delivery time, that's why we produce one of our most important electric cars in Europe as well as underlining the importance of the European market for Hyundai," Cole said in a statement, Wednesday, August 23.
The presence of All-New Kona is in line with the company's electrification plan to bring the latest eleven EVs to the market by 2030.
In the factory, Kona Electric will fill 15 percent of the total production by the end of 2023. The latest generation of Kona Electric will be produced by 21,000 units and will be added to 50,000 vehicles in the following year.
All-New Kona Electric will be delivered to various European regions, including Britain, Ireland, and Cyprus. The model will also be available for the first time in areas such as Turkey, Israel, and Guadeloupe.

The HMMC plant assembles two versions of Kona Electric with different battery capacities. The standard version will offer a 153 dk electric motor and a 48.4 kWh capacity battery that allows this car to go up to 377 km in a single charge.
Then, the last variant is equipped with a higher performance than before with an electric motorcycle 214 dk and a battery with a capacity of 65.4 kWh of batteries that have a longer range capacity of up to 514 km.
The compact SUV is priced at 34,995 pounds or around Rp. 679.2 million. In Indonesia itself, Hyundai still provides the first generation Kona Electric at a price of Rp. 750 million.
