Hotel In Melawai Burns, 3 Dead Trapped In Room
JAKARTA - Three people died in a fire that hit a hotel in the Melawai area, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Friday, August 18 in the morning.
The three victims who died were suspected of being trapped in a room and did not have time to save themselves. The victims are thought to be sleeping while the fire spread throughout the building.
The identification team from the South Jakarta Metro Police immediately carried out the initial identification process for the three victims who died.
South Jakarta City Fire and Rescue Sub-dept. officers had difficulty immersing the fire and evacuating the three bodies. The thick smoke caused by the fire disrupted the evacuation process.
A number of hotel residents experienced shortness of breath due to a lot of smoke and were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital
The fire was only extinguished after 20 fire engines were dispatched to the location.

Until now, the police are still investigating the cause of the hotel fire. It is suspected that the fire came from a sofa on the second floor that caught fire.
"We can't confirm what the cause is, but the thick smoke comes from the floor of the building," said Roseno, a police officer.
During the fire, there were 5 rooms filled with 10 guests. Three guests were killed and the other two experienced shortness of breath. The dead have been taken to Fatmawati Hospital for an autopsy.
