If Anies Fails To Become A Presidential Candidate, Amien Rais And The Ummat Party Give Support To Prabowo

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Ummat Party Syuro Council, Amien Rais, said that his party's support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election was not final. The Ummat Party can still divert support for Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election.

Amien Rais assesses that Prabowo is one of the figures who will be supported as a presidential candidate with Anies. This is because both of them were invited to attend the Ummat Party National Conference (Munas) last year.

"And coincidentally, Mr. Anies came, in such a way, Mr. Prabowo's invitation was not conveyed by Mr. Prabowo's subordinates. So that at that time the Ummat party supported Mr. Anies' candidacy," said Amien Rais, Monday, August 14.

Amien said support for Prabowo might happen if Anies does not run in the 2024 presidential election.

"If then (Anies) is blocked by certain powers so it can't, then of course then I will definitely return to Pak Prabowo," he said.

Amien emphasized that he was one of Prabowo's supporters in the 2019 presidential election. He considered Prabowo as a nationalist figure.

"Because for me Pak Prabowo is a patriot, understands problems and is firm, because of that (I support)," he said.
