Jokowi Wants New Leaders To Have Guts And Consistent In Facing Uncertain Global Situations

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a meeting with mass media editors leaders at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, discussed the realization of economic growth and criteria for Indonesia's future leaders.

"The President said that future leaders must be brave, have guts, and consistently face this uncertain global situation," said LKBN News Director Antara Irfan Junaidi after the meeting reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 10.

According to Irfan, President Jokowi made an analogy for the nation's future journey such as running a marathon where national leaders must have high durability to face global challenges and uncertainties.

"That's what we will run, it's not morning runs, but like marathons, it takes endurance, it takes endurance, that's all, so (the president) doesn't mention one particular character or character that he conveys," said Irfan.

Then, President Jokowi also explained about the realization of Indonesia's economic growth, which in the second quarter of 2023 reached 5.17 percent (year on year/yoy). In the components that form economic growth, said Irfan, public consumption is still a support. However, the President also highlighted the inequality in the economic structure.

"He (the President) gave a note that there was a problem with inequality in growth because Java was still 57 percent, outside Java 43 percent," said Irfan.

The President and the editors also discussed the development of the development of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan. The President hopes that 2023 will be the last year that the peak of the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day will be held at the Presidential Palace, East Kalimantan.

"The development of IKN, and making August 17, after this, tomorrow (August 2023) is expected to be the last, then the following year at IKN," said Irfan.

The Head of State, said Irfan, also said that many investors were interested in investing in the development of IKN. In addition, the President also expressed his intention to try out the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train before it was inaugurated and operated for the public.

Irfan explained that the meeting between the President and the editors took place casually and was interspersed with lunch together. There were dozens of editors who attended the meeting for more than two hours.

(Eating at noon) is delicious. Favorite here is meatballs, dumplings, then there are cakes, snacks, layers, pukis, rujak, empings, and the best thing is the ice kopyor. Top, "he said.
