Google Now Launches Security Update Every Week For Chrome
JAKARTA - Google changed its policy by starting to send security improvements to its Chrome browser, from four weeks to one week.
The new weekly update, which will begin with Chrome 116, aims to help close the patch gap between the improvements that appear released by Canary or Beta and when launched to most users.
"This shouldn't change the way you use or update Chrome, nor does it change the frequency of milestone releases, but this means security improvements will get to you faster," said Chrome Security Team Amyte.
menambahkan, aktor jahat mungkin dapat memanfaatkan visibilitas perbaikan ini dan mengungkapkannya kepada pengguna yang susang sebelum saluran stabil melihat pembaruan.
"Exploitation of known and patched security issues is referred to as the exploitation of n-days. That's why we believe it is very important to deliver security improvements as soon as possible, to minimize these patch gaps",USp.

Previously, the patch gap was about 35 days for Chrome's older version of 77 reduced to about 15 days with the application of a two-week patch cycle. Now, the new weekly update will address this gap, as quoted by The Verge, Wednesday, August 9.
"While we cannot completely remove the potential for n-day exploitation, weekly Chrome security updates allow delivery of average security fixes 3.5 days faster, greatly reducing small windows for attackers to develop and use exploits against potential victims and make their lives much more difficult."
