KEDIRI - Joint officers from the East Java Provincial Government and the Kediri City Government carried out unannounced inspections at a number of cafes and restaurants in the city of Kediri, and found that a number of places of business were still using subsidized LPGs.

The Coordinator of Natural Resources at the Economic Bureau of East Java Province, Nur Cahyati, said that this inspection was carried out as a form of supervision of the use of subsidized LPG cylinders so that they were right on target.

"We carry out supervision in the use of subsidized LPG so that it is right on target. This is basically a Circular Letter of the Director General of Oil and Gas Number B-2461/MG.05/DJM/2022. The results of the inspection found that a number of businesses in the city of Kediri were still using 3 kilograms of subsidized LPG, for example, a subsidized LPG business.

His party also immediately gave an understanding of the use of subsidized LPG, so that Pertamina immediately carried out an additional trade or exchange using LPG from subsidies to non-subsidized subsidies.

"For businesses whose income is Rp. 1 million and above, they cannot use subsidized LPG. So when it was found that business actors were still using 3 kilograms of subsidized LPG, we immediately took it and exchanged it with 5.5 kilograms of non-subsidized tubes," said Nur Cahyati.

Nur Cahyati said that if after socialization was carried out, 3 kilograms of subsidized LPG was still found, her party emphasized that they would impose sanctions up to the revocation of business licenses.

Meanwhile, Head of the Economic Administration Section of the Kediri City Government, Tetuko Erwin Sukarno, said the city government provided full support for activities carried out by the East Java Provincial Government.

His party has also coordinated with the Kediri City Disperdagin to conduct regular inspections and provide more massive socialization through the association.

"Friends from the disperindagin will conduct regular inspections and if there is still the use of LPG that is not in accordance with the provisions, stricter action will be taken. In addition, the Kediri City Government will provide guidance through the Horeca association (hotel, restaurant, catering)," he said.

According to the Presidential Decree, there are four groups that are allowed to use subsidized 3 kilograms of LPG, namely poor households, micro-enterprises, target farmers and target fishermen.

"There are also conditions for these target farmers and fishermen, namely those who have received the fuel conversion program to subsidized gas," he said.

Iin Irmawati, one of the restaurant owners in Kediri City, admitted that initially she was still using subsidized LPG for her business activities. In a day, you can spend seven 3-kilogram subsidized LPG cylinders for her business. The use of the tube can even go up on weekends.

He just found out that according to the rules, his business type is not allowed to use 3 kilograms of LPG.

"If that's the policy, I support it and so that 3 kg LPG is more targeted," he said.
