Chronology Of Ian Kasela Demanded Rp20 Billion Related To Copyright Of Cinderella Song
JAKARTA - Iandhika Mulya Ramadhan, better known as Ian Kasela's stage name, has to deal with copyright problems over one of his hit songs that was performed with Radja, Cinderella.
The name Rival Achmad Labbaka alias Ipay appeared in public by claiming that the song Cinderella which had been credited to Ian Kasela was a song he composed in 1996.
"That our client is a songwriter entitled Cinderella which was popularized by Radja's brothers and band, where the song entitled Cinderella has been written by our client since 1996 and has recorded in 1998 by our client with Fresh Band," said Minola Sebayang as Ipay's attorney in a written statement received Wednesday, August 2.
Not only recorded, Minola Sebayang said that the song Cinderella was also often performed by Ipay with his band.
Long before the song Cinderella was sung by Ian Kasela and Radja, this song has often been sung and performed by Rival. So, legally we have published it," he said.
Minola said that her client objected to the entry of Ian Kasela as the songwriter for Cinderella performed by Radja. In fact, it was said that only the singer from South Kalimantan was a person who received royalties from the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN).
The creation is attached to the creator. Ipay feels that this song is a work he creates himself without other people's intervention, why is it written by Ian and Ipay," said Minola.

"And furthermore, when this song was registered at LMKN, the royalties were as far as Ipay's knowledge was written, it was registered that the creator was only Ian himself," he continued.
Because of this problem, Minola Sebayang representing Rival Achmad Labbaka sent a subpoena against Ian Kasela. He demanded compensation of Rp. 20 billion.
"That based on these things, we hereby convey (reprimand) Kasela to pay compensation for violations of our client's moral rights and economic rights amounting to Rp20 billion," concluded Minola Sebayang.
Until now, there has been no clarification from Ian Kasela to the media crew.
