Pertamina Hulu Rokan Kebut Bor Sumur Kelok In Rokan Starting November

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) are targeting the second MNK drilling in the Rokan Block under the name Sumur Kelok in November 2023. Previously, PHR officially began to carry out the first tajak of the Non-Convesional Gas Gulamo Well (MNK) in the Rokan Working Area (WK) on Thursday 27 July.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif revealed that the potential for MNK inplace in the two wells reaches 80 million barrels of oil. However, it took at least 4 months to ensure that the MNK well has economic value.

"We hope that within 120 days at least we can get information data regarding the certainty of the potential for MNK in the Rokan Block," said Arifin, quoted on Tuesday, August 1.

After drilling the two wells, Arifin said there would still be 126 other wells to be drilled, because the potential for MNK in the Rokan Block is very large, reaching 1.28 billion barrels of oil.

Meanwhile, Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto said that this Rokan WK is part of the basin of the central Sumatran Basin which holds even greater potential for MNK.

"Of course everyone hopes that these two wells can pave the way to access even greater MNK," added Dwi.

Furthermore, Dwi revealed that the drilling of these two wells is also an important milestone, and must still be followed by a series of follow-up activities to prove the results.

"The series of activities in the form of drilling three wells for former appraisal, drilling 6 to wells for demonstration stage and when the work proves good results, there are indeed commercial reserves, we will drill hundreds of development wells," concluded Dwi.
