JAKARTA - Children who access the internet overly are prone to impulse control disorders in the form of psychomotor movements or vocals that are not realized. Therefore, it requires a safe limit that children must follow when using the internet.
Children can be prone to behavioral addiction when using the internet excessively, which is more than four hours a day. This was conveyed by a subsidiary psychiatric expert for children and adolescents who graduated from the University of Indonesia, Dr. Anggia Hapsari, Sp.K.J, Subsp. AR(K).
"Children find it difficult to control the urge in them, for example, to stop playing games," Anggia was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Monday, July 24.
Anggia, who is a member of the Indonesian Mental Medicine Specialist Association, also said that internet addiction will make children look different from children of their age.
Another health problem that can also be experienced by children is exponentially compulsive subtype disorders. He gave an example, children who are used to playing online games later because they cannot play them, will continue to think about this. Children then respond with certain behaviors to eliminate these thoughts.
On the other hand, the ease of accessing the internet and gadgets to children without good scoring and control can put them at risk of being exposed to exploitation and violence online.
Anggia then mentioned a new form of violence and exploitation of children that parents may not realize, including interactions related to sexual violence in the form of sexting or the practice of sending sexually explicit messages, photos or videos via text messages, and live videos.

According to him, children who are victims of violence who feel ashamed of what they are experiencing will definitely blame themselves. They are also vulnerable to being blamed by their parents or teachers and those around them, feeling accused of being betrayed by the people they have trusted.
This, said Anggia, in the end can lead to other psychological disorders such as anxiety, behavioral disorders and moods such as depression.
