BYD Presents Dolphin Preview Version, Launched 27 July
JAKARTA - Chinese-made electric cars are currently on the rise.
Realizing this trend, various manufacturers from the Bamboo Curtain Country have begun to expand the reach of the global market by offering their products.
Not only does it have superior technology and performance, but manufacturers from China offer various models at relatively low prices for electric vehicle sizes.
One of the automakers who did this was BYD.
BYD is a Chinese manufacturer that has tightened its belts in the global market that will compete with major European and Japanese and South Korean manufacturers.
One of the efforts they made was to present their various products in various countries, one of which was Malaysia. Recently, BYD released an update preview car from its flagship electric hatchback, Dolphin.
Reporting on the paultan page, Jum'at, July 21, BYD showcased a preview version of the Dolphin update at the Electric Vehicle Expo (EVx) 2023 which took place on July 22-23.
BYD Dolphin is almost the same size as other hatchbacks, Toyota Yaris, with a length of 4,150 mm, a width of 1,770 mm, a height of 1,570 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Although the manufacturer has not provided further information, it is reported that the model offered is the same as Thailand with the Standard Range and Extended Range variants.
As an illustration, Standard Range is equipped with a Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 44.92 kWh capable of reaching up to 410 km.
Meanwhile, the Extended Range variant has a higher range of up to 490 km in one charge, thanks to a battery with a capacity of 60.48 kWh.
These two variants are compatible with DC 60 kW fast charging for Standard Range and 80 kW for Extended Range. Both types are also suitable for AC 7 kW charging and have been supported by the vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature.

If you look at some of the products offered, BYD will certainly price the car at affordable prices for the Malaysian market.
As an illustration, Standard Range is priced at 699,999 baht or equivalent to Rp306.2 million and Extended Range for 859,999 baht or around Rp376.1 million.
After the EVx 2023 exhibition ends, BYD will launch a production version of Dolphin for the Malaysian market on 27 July. Dolphin will follow Atto 3 as a BYD vehicle marketed in neighboring countries.
