Minister Bahlil Reveals Investment In Pupuk Kaltim In Fakfak West Papua Capai Rp30 Trillion

WEST PAPUA - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said PT Pupuk Kaltim would build a fertilizer factory in Fakfak Regency, West Papua. The investment value is estimated at IDR 30 trillion.

"This project is purely an investment, not funded from the APBN or APBD," Bahlil said in a written statement, Saturday, July 15, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the investment value for the construction of the fertilizer factory was the largest in Papua.

Therefore, President Jokowi advised the people of Fakfak Regency to contribute to the success of the construction of fertilizer factories.

"The message from the President is that this investment should be maintained properly," said Bahlil.

According to him, the construction of a fertilizer factory began with the land mapping stage in September 2023, followed by other infrastructure developments.

The presence of the fertilizer factory does not only mean to meet the demand for fertilizer in eastern Indonesia, but has the potential to be exported abroad such as Australia or other countries.

"The fertilizer plant to be built, the orientation is not only to meet domestic needs," he said.

Bahlil explained that the construction of a fertilizer factory in Fakfak was able to absorb thousands of workers while increasing local revenue (PAD), and the local community's economy.

The construction of the fertilizer factory is in line with the efforts of the central government to develop modern agriculture throughout Papua.

"The future of Indonesia is Papua. The impact will also be felt by mothers selling fish and vegetables in the market," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor (Pj) of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw appreciated the efforts of the central government which has supported the construction of a fertilizer factory in Fakfak.

He considered the support from the central government to be very appropriate because eastern Indonesia did not yet have a fertilizer factory to answer the demand for the agricultural and plantation sectors.

"Praise God, eastern Indonesia will be able to balance the brothers and sisters in the western region," said Paulus Waterpauw.
