Firli: People's Voice Should Not Be Traded In The 2024 Election
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri reminded the party not to trade people's votes in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). Moreover, the political contestation will determine the fate of the people in the future.
"Democracy is the sovereignty of the people. Therefore, the voice of the people is the voice of God. I invite never to trade the voice of the people in the 2024 election," Firli said in a written statement quoted on Saturday, July 15.
Firli reminded that the party is the people's voter who takes its cadres to sit in executive and legislative positions. So, they must avoid fraudulent practices.
"Political parties keep personal and group interests away from realizing the goals of the Indonesian state," he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Education and Community Participation of the KPK Wawan Wardiana said money politics was still happening. From an internal study in 2018, for example, 95 percent of the public made their choice because they were lured by money.
Meanwhile, 72.4 percent chose the election participants because of their charm on social media and 69.6 percent made a choice because they saw popularity.

Then from the LIPI survey in 2019, 46.7 percent of the public considered it reasonable. "This fact is very ironic, because if the person chosen has no integrity, it can be ascertained that the policies that will be taken in the future will be far from the expectations of the community," said Wawan.
This condition made the KPK finally launch the 'Learning Fajar Attack' program during the 2024 General Election. Hopefully, there will be no more tempted communities and candidates who use money politics.
"Money politics is the same as the source of problems in the political sector. Money politics, which is more popular with the term dawn attack, is a criminal act that triggers corruption," concluded Wawan.
