Bandung City CCTV Equipped With Facial Recognition To Anticipate Crime
BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is updating technology on surveillance cameras or closed circuit television (CCTV) in developed cities with facial recognition technology to anticipate crime.
Head of Information Technology Infrastructure of Bandung City, Mahyudin explained, with the renewal of CCTV technology including vehicle countering technology (Vehicle Counting), it will facilitate tracking of criminals, preventing terrorism, and improving other public services.
"With this CCTV, we can minimize it and make it easier for investigations to minimize acts of terror. Data from the CCTV footage can be recorded and stored in the database later," Mahyudin said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 14.
Mahyudin said the analytical feature was temporarily embedded in several CCTVs that were considered strategic, but he revealed that in the future this technology could be applied to all Bandung City CCTV as needed.
"The point is that this feature can be applied at all CCTV points. The first step is to do training to operators," he said.

Mahyudin revealed that the Bandung City Government has also implemented NVR NVR (Network Video Recorder) technology using camera IP and using H264, H264+, H2665 formats and using RJ-45 cables and Ptz technology that allows CCTV with 360 Derajat cruising power.
All of these things, he continued, were carried out as an effort to accelerate the development of the city of Bandung into smartcity.
Currently, the public can also access CCTV spread across more than 357 points in the city of Bandung via the protective website.bandung.go.id which can help facilitate activities.
