Floods Surrounded Padang City 2 Toddlers Died Buried By Landslides

Two toddlers died as a result of being buried by a landslide that hit a house in the Bukit Gado-Gado area, South Padang District, Padang City, West Sumatra.

Secretary of BPBD Padang, West Sumatra Robert Chandra Eka Putra said the two victims had the initials FKP (5) and FAS (3) which were buried when their house was hit by landslide material.

According to Robert, the information obtained by the landslide occurred on Thursday at around 02.00 WIB when the owner of the HG house woke up hearing the roar of the hill behind the house.

"The child has been evacuated by residents and will be held for the funeral of this victim," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 14.

So far, there have been two fatalities due to floods and landslides in Padang City.

Previously, the Padang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that even flooding occurred in the city of about 900 thousand people due to heavy rains that had occurred since early Friday.

There are 32 flood points in Padang City and officers have been evacuating in the field since Thursday, July 13 night.

In addition to flooding, landslides also occurred in the city of Padang in the Bukit Gado-Gado area where four landslides occurred.

"We have coordinated with the Public Works Agency and related parties to carry heavy equipment for evacuation," he said.
