Pertamina Hulu Rokan Has Drilled 221 New Wells Throughout 2023
PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has drilled 221 new wells with production figures reaching 163,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOEPD) throughout 2023 which is still running.
EVP Upstream Bussines PHR WK Rokan Edwil Suzandi said he was optimistic to produce the best production figures as a national energy support company. In 2023, it was recorded that until June 2023 PHR had also deployed 26 drilling rigs to pursue a high number of productions.
"For June, we managed to drill 38 wells, so that a total of 2023 (January-June) we have managed to drill 221 wells. Meanwhile, our production figures this year managed to reach 163,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day," said Edwil, quoted from Antara, Friday, July 14.
Edwil said, in general, PHR's performance in the first half of 2023 has increased compared to the same period as the previous year. PHR managed to overcome a natural declining of 2,000 barrels per day (bopd).
PHR continued to continue to show its best performance while still prioritizing the safety aspect of work. In addition to new wells, PHR also continues to boost production through optimizing water and steam injection technology, and developing the potential for Non Conventional Oil and Gas (MNK).

"In order to increase production, PHR has a strategy by reducing the loss of production opportunities and increasing the reliability of human resources. The company conducts a review of the proposed drilling proposal, using the latest data to determine work priorities," said Edwil.
Edwil added that PHR also evaluates seismic data and wells in large and small fields that were previously abandoned but still have good oil potential. PHR also accelerates the implementation of new technologies, such as technology to reduce production barriers and encourage increased well production.
