DKI Provincial Government Still Evaluates The Effectiveness Of Anies' Rupiah Zero DP Program
JAKARTA - The Head of the DKI Jakarta Housing and Settlement Service, Retno Sulistiyaningrum, said that he is still evaluating the effectiveness of the down payment program of Rp0 or Rupiah Zero DP for people with low income to own a house.
"We will evaluate everything again," said Retno as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 11.
According to Retno, the occupancy of the Rupiah Zero DP should be an alternative for residents who want to get subsidized proper housing.
Rusunawa itself also has the same role, namely to accommodate residents who do not have decent housing.
When residents in the Rusunawa have experienced an increase in the economic level, the DKI Provincial Government will offer Rupiah Zero DP housing so that these residents can have their own decent housing.
"We hope that when he is able, independent, he will have a flat. We offer this if there are affordable housing," he explained.
However, his party admitted that they would continue to evaluate the Rupiah Zero DP program to measure the success of the Anies Baswedan program.

Previously, a member of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, August Hamonangan, suggested that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government abolish the down payment program of Rp0 or Rupiah Zero DP because it considered no benefit.
"Don't waste people's money. If there is no Rupiah Zero DP period, it has been crossed out," August said during a meeting with the DKI Jakarta Housing and Settlement Service at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Tuesday.
According to August, the DP Zero rupiah program does not answer the problems of people who want to have decent housing.
In fact, continued August, the Rupiah Zero DP program actually made residents take advantage of the situation by renting out units to other people, such as what happened at Pondok Kelapa Apartment, East Jakarta.
He highlighted the construction of the Rupiah Zero DP residential house in Cilangkap, East Jakarta which was considered ineffective.
Therefore, August asked that the housing previously used as the Rupiah Zero DP be used as a simple rented flat (rusunawa).
