Polda Metro Waits For Working Hour Policy To Handle Jakarta Congestion

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya said that in dealing with congestion problems in DKI Jakarta, they are still waiting for local government policies regarding working hours arrangements.

"When the focus of the discussion group (focusgroupdiscussion/FGD) with DKI, almost 85 percent of stakeholders present agreed, but there were several proposals that could not be applied. Maybe later it will be in the form of an appeal, but the decision to the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, we will follow up," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 10.

Latif also explained that this working hour arrangement is a good intention to make people able to move safely and comfortably in Jakarta.

"That's why this is being studied again, it is being evaluated again, of course there may be work that cannot be divided or regulated in time, we must also be wise, but if what can be appealed to or stipulated, DKI Jakarta will implement it," he said.

Latif said the policy to regulate working hours must have caused debate between stakeholders and related parties.

"Pros and cons will definitely exist. But I think the middle way for the policy is with the Governor, later the form of the appeal and appeal will be left to the agency itself which will regulate it," he said.

Previously, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, said that to resolve congestion in the capital city, it must be carried out jointly involving various parties and its implementation must be gradual.

"We want to solve this congestion problem in stages. The solution cannot be completed tomorrow morning, then traffic is not jammed, it cannot," said Heru when giving directions to the FGD regarding the Handling of DKI Jakarta Congestion, in Central Jakarta, Thursday (6/7).

Heru said that together with the DKI DPRD, they continued to synergize and try to work together to solve the problem of congestion in the capital city, at least reducing it first.

The implementation of the discussion itself, said Heru, was held because of the large number of public complaints about congestion in Jakarta.

In addition, this discussion will also discuss more clearly regarding the arrangement of working hours that can be divided into two sessions, namely 08.00 WIB and 10.00 WIB to overcome congestion problems.

"As a result of this discussion, we will discuss it even smaller with the DKI Jakarta Transportation Council. Let's give a response, suggestions for later we will reprocess. Maybe here there is a representative from Depok Bekasi, the DKI Regional Government has tried," explained Heru.
