Ministry Of Religion: 3 Hajj Pilgrims From Garut Who Died Buried In Saudi Arabia
GARUT - Garut Regency Representative Office (Kemenag) said 3 Hajj from Garut who died while carrying out Hajj activities had been buried in Saudi Arabia.
"The SOP was buried there (Saudi Arabia)," said Head of the Garut Cece Hidayat Ministry of Religion Office when contacted by reporters in Garut, Tuesday, July 4, confiscated by Antara.
He said that 1,938 pilgrims departing from Garut in 2023, three of whom died due to illness during a series of Hajj activities in Mecca.
The three hajjes who died, he said, were named Mimih and Elin, both of whom were elderly, and another Hajj who was reported to have died on July 2, 2023, named Engkos Kosasih, who was under 60 years old.
"Secondly and the first is the elderly, the last is still under 60 years old, the three died while in Mecca," he said.
Regarding the condition of the pilgrims who are currently still in Mecca, he said, overall are in good condition and healthy to prepare for their return home.
However, he continued, there were also three sick pilgrims who had received medical treatment at the hospital, and they were expected to return to Indonesia on a predetermined schedule.
"Currently there are still pilgrims being treated in hospital, there are three people from group 46 and one from group 70," he said.
He conveyed that there were a number of people from pilgrims from Garut who were sick because many of the congregation from the city were elderly with poor physical and health conditions.
The problem with the elderly, he said, the Ministry of Religion has taken anticipatory steps to provide maximum special services to the elderly.
"This year's Hajj implementation has been extraordinary, officers have tried their best, especially in serving the elderly pilgrims," he said.
It was recorded that 1,938 pilgrims from Garut Regency departed, of whom 250 people were categorized as high risk because they were sick or over 75 years old.
The departure of the pilgrims from Garut was divided into six groups, two of them were merged with other regions, and for the first departure from Garut on May 23, 2023, and the last departed on June 20, 2023.
The plan for the first return from Garut is scheduled to arrive until the Bekasi Hajj Dormitory, Tuesday night, and is expected to arrive in Garut, Wednesday, July 5 in the morning.
