Badminton Asia Junior Championship 2023 Schedule In Yogyakarta
JAKARTA Indonesia will host the 2023 Badminton Asia Junior Championship (BAJC). The following is the complete schedule for the prestigious event at the junior level.
Badminton Asia Junior Championship 2023 will take place 7-12 July 2023 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This is the first time the event has started again after a hiatus since 2019.
"BAJC is the beginning of the return of this championship after a hiatus since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Chief Executive Committee Armand Darmadji at a press conference on Monday, July 3, 2023.
The competition will compete in mixed and individual team numbers. Mixed team numbers will take place from 7 to 11 July, while individuals will be held from 12 to 16 July.
Mixed teams will be attended by 14 countries, including Indonesia as the host. The other 13 contestants are Bangladesh, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
"In individuals there is an additional one country, namely Sri Lanka. This country does not participate in mixed team numbers," said Armand.
Previously, Indonesia had hosted the BAJC championship three times. The three opportunities were in 2005, 2017, and 2018.
The last BAJC was held in 2019 in Suzhou, China. At that time, Indonesian mixed teams received silver medals, while individuals received two gold medals.
The two gold medals were contributed by the men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and the mixed doubles Leo who fell in the pair Indah Cahya Sari Jamil.
