East Java Provincial Government Sends Disaster Emergency Assistance To Pacitan Affected By Yogyakarta Earthquake
SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jatim) sent disaster emergency assistance to Pacitan Regency which was affected by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 on Friday (30/6) night.
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa explained that the earthquake centered in Yogyakarta also hit Pacitan, Trenggalek, Ponorogo, Tulungagung, and Blitar Regencies.
"Pacitan Regency is the area that feels the most impact," said Khofifah as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 1.
Until now, the results of rapid data collection of damage in Pacitan Regency that entered the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) included 23 lightly damaged houses, 18 moderately damaged, and 1 unit heavily damaged. In addition, six public facilities were lightly damaged.
"Alhamdulillah, there were no casualties from this incident," he said.
The East Java Provincial Government sent 150 food packages and 100 tarpaulins to Pacitan Regency.
Governor Khofifah said the total impact of damage in all districts including Pacitan reached 32 lightly damaged houses, 20 moderately damaged houses, 5 heavily damaged houses, 9 lightly damaged public facilities, 3 lightly damaged business units, 1 heavily damaged business unit, and 1 warehouse unit damaged.
"Actually, in each BPBD, each district already has tarpaulins, but the current delivery of aid is initial assistance for disaster emergencies so that people can be facilitated," he said.

Khofifah ensured that disaster agents and the BPBD rapid reaction team in each affected district were jointly conducting assessments to assess the crisis level. The East Java BPBD is also coordinating with the Regional Health Crisis Center and the Health Office in the local province.
"Later on from the assessment, we will know the material and immaterial losses suffered by each district. From there, we will only know what progressive steps we can take to help residents," he said.
Governor Khofifah appealed to the public, especially in affected areas, to remain vigilant because aftershocks can occur at any time.
"However, I ask you not to panic. My message remains careful and let's help each other with those affected by disasters like this earthquake," he said.
