Spotify will Add Music Videos to the Platform
JAKARTA - New news comes from Spotify, which is claimed to be adding full-length music videos to its application.
Now, according to an anonymous report, the company is in talks with partners to make this happen.
It's unclear whether Spotify will bring the music videos to desktop and web apps or if it's aimed at mobile users only.
So far, video content on Spotify has been limited to podcasts, 30-second story clips (to help artists talk about their work), and 10-second GIFs that play while users listen to certain songs.
In March, Spotify also launched a feed like TikTok but only for discovering music and podcasts.

A few years ago, the company tried using TV content, such as clips from Comedy Central and ESPN, but it didn't get much traction.
The plan of getting music videos into streaming music services is nothing new, Apple Music has offered this feature for years.
But if Spotify's move does happen, it will help it compete with Apple's offerings and potentially attract users who will watch videos on YouTube, as quoted by Bloomberg and Engadget, Saturday, July 1.
Not only that, but music videos will also be a new source of revenue for the company, given that Spotify has recently undertaken a number of layoffs to mitigate difficult global economic challenges and business missteps.
