MUI Indramayu Calls Sharia At Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School Different From Islam

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Indramayu Regency, West Java, stated that the sharia used by the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School is very different from the Islamic teachings in general, both prayers, fasting, and Hajj.

"The celebrations carried out by Al-Zaytun are very unequal from the procedure for Muslim worship in general," said Indramayu Regency MUI Chairman Syatori as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.

According to him, a lot of information shows that Al-Zaytun is very deviated from Islamic law in general, be it prayer, fasting or hajj.

Syatori said that with the difference in sharia carried out by Al-Zaytun that is different from Muslims in general, it certainly proves that Al-Zaytun teaches things that do not comply with the provisions.

In fact, especially for the pilgrimage, Al-Zaytun allows Hajj in Indonesia, even though Islamic law has determined that all Muslims who will perform the pilgrimage must be in the Holy Land of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

"There is a statement that Hajj does not have to be in Mecca, it is enough that in Indonesia it is not in accordance with Islamic law," he said.

For this reason, he said, the public is advised not to send their children to Al-Zaytun, because the teachings given by them are very different from the Islamic requirements.

"We urge the public not to send their children to Al-Zaytun, which has clearly deviated from Islamic law," he said.

MUI Indramayu, he said, asked the government to immediately take action against Al-Zaytun, so that the existing controversy would immediately stop, considering that the Indramayu area is currently in a safe and comfortable condition.

"We ask the government to immediately take action against Al-Zaytun, so that Indonesia is more secure, does not continue to follow the controversies created by them themselves," said Syatori.
