West Java MUI Leads Investigations Related To Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School
The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of West Java Province (Jabar) is the party that leads the joint investigation with the Investigation Team that has been formed by the local Provincial Government regarding alleged irregularities at the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) in Indramayu Regency.
Head of the West Java National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol) Iip Hidajat said the decision was based on a Decree (SK) signed by the Governor of West Java M. Ridwan Kamil on Tuesday (20/6).
Its members involve various relevant agencies, including law enforcement officers, namely the police, the TNI and the West Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati).
"So, today the decree was signed by Mr. Ridwan Kamil and the investigation team is the chairman of the West Java MUI," said Iip, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.
Iip said that the investigation team would later collect authentic evidence related to the alleged teaching of heretical sects by the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School manager which was troubling the public.
"For the work mechanism, there are two possibilities for the team. They can come there or we will call the head of the Ponpes and the investigation will be carried out for one week," he said.
The results, said Iip, will be submitted within seven days or until next Tuesday.
Previously, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil formed an investigative team to deal with pros and cons related to activities and teaching at Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Indramayu Regency, West Java.
The team consists of elements of education, law enforcement officers, MUI, and bureaucratic elements from the West Java Provincial Government. He ensured that the team worked carefully, fairly, and confirmed
"We'll see the results later. If the results turn out to be fiqh violations, sharia, etc., they are also related to potential administrative violations, existing legal norms in Indonesia, and other actions can be concluded," said Ridwan Kamil at the Sate building, Bandung City, West Java.

He explained that the investigation team will work starting Tuesday (20/6) for the next seven days.
The team was formed to produce two points, namely responding to existing unrest in the community and collecting complete data and facts related to Al-Zaytun.
For this reason, Kang Emil asked the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School to cooperate by accepting the presence of the investigation team, because several times the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School rejected those who wanted to confirm.
"The most important thing is that from the eyes of the West Java Provincial government, we have to save 5,000 students if it is indicated that they are in an ideology that violates the legal order, of course there will be a measured effort," he said.
So, for now, said Ridwan Kamil, his party has not been able to make any decisions or actions, because they will wait for the results of the investigation carried out by the investigation team.
"We don't want to make decisions emotionally, without tabayun or verification first," said Ridwan Kamil.
