Banned, Electric Bikes Will Be In Gili Trawangan Ordered
North LOMBOK - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has brought order to electric bicycles in the Gili Trawangan tourist area, for violating regulations set by the local government.
"We have carried out control some time ago and as a result, 47 electric bicycles were taken. Control operations are still being carried out," said Head of the North Lombok Regency Transportation Service, Parihin, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 20.
He explained that the basis for controlling electric bicycles is Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 25 of 2021 and Regent Regulation (Perbup) Number 12 of 2023.
In addition, there is also a Decree (SK) of the Joint Team for Controlling Transportation Equipment in a three- gili tourist area signed by the Regent of North Lombok H Djohan Sjamsu.
"What is of concern to us based on the regulation is that electric bicycles or electric motorbikes are not allowed to be in Gili Trawangan, except for garbage transporters that are allowed," he said.
Before controlling it, said Parihin, his party first conducted socialization to tourism business actors and the people in Gili Trawangan so as not to operate or rent out electric bicycles. The socialization was carried out in early May 2023.

In mid-May 2023, the joint team carried out control operations and took 47 electric bicycles. Some of these have been taken by the owner, but first sign a statement letter on the 10,000 seal.
"The owners who have taken their electric bicycles are willing to sign a statement not to operate electric bicycles anymore. Now there are still 10 units left in the office, maybe the owner has not dared to take it," he said.
Parihin also emphasized that strict sanctions will be given to owners of electric bicycles if they are proven to have violated the warning three times. The sanctions given are in the form of imprisonment for six months or a fine of Rp. 50 million.
"That's why we give the opportunity three times, if we continue to violate it, we will leave it to the authorities," he said.
