After Viral Video Of Motorcyclist Almost Killed By Train, PT KAI Will Close Kalideres Illegal Crossing
JAKARTA Following up on the video of a motorcyclist almost dying when he was hit by a train, PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta spoke up. PT KAI said the train crossing (KA) without a doorstop in the Alastua Street area, Kalideres, West Jakarta, was a illegal crossing.
"The crossing is indeed a illegal crossing," said the Daily Executive of the Jakarta Daop 1 Public Relations Manager, Feni when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, June 20.
Feni further said that due to the high number of accident vulnerabilities at a number of illegal crossings, PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta plans to close in anticipation of accidents due to crossing the railway line.
"In the future, of course, ideally it will be permanently closed. Previously, we would also coordinate with the local government, the Ministry of Transportation's DJKA and regionalization as well as socialization to residents and road users," he said.
The closure of illegal crossings states that Feni has evaluated Law 23 of 2007 concerning Railways including: Article 91 Paragraph (1): "The intersection between the railway line and the road is made not in the same field". Article 94 Paragraph (1): "For the safety of train travel and road users, a level crossing that does not have a permit must be closed". Article 94 Paragraph (2): "The closure of a level crossing as referred to in paragraph (1) is carried out by the government or local government".
As previously reported, a motorcyclist with a ride was almost struck by a train (KA) that passed at high speed around the Kalideres area, West Jakarta. The incident was caught on CCTV surveillance cameras around the scene.
