KAI Commuter Serves 1,133 Trips Starting June 1

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter) will serve 1,133 trips with 98trainsets on the Jabodetabek Commuter Line on the Railway Travel Graphic (Gapeka) starting June 1, 2023.

"Later as of June 1, we will serve 1,133 trips by operating 98 trainsets circulating on the tracks," said VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Anne Purba, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 29.

Gapeka is a guideline for regulating the implementation of train travel in the form of lines that show stations, time, distance, and train travel positions ranging from departure, stop, arrival, crossover, and consultation which are depicted through a graph to control train travel.

The 1,133 trips consist of Commuter Line Bogor 420 trips per day, Commuter Line Cikarang 282 trips per day, Commuter Line Rangkasbitung 221 trips per day, Commuter Line Tangerang 124 trips per day, and Commuter Line Tanjung Priok 86 trips per day.

KAI Commuter mentioned that the addition of travel also affects the headway or waiting time. The average headwayCommuter Line Bogor 5 minutes, Commuter Line Cikarang 9 minutes, Commuter Line Rangkasbitung 12 minutes, Commuter Line Tangerang 18 minutes, and Commuter Line Tanjung Priok 18 minutes.

"This is the headway, specifically for the Commuter Line Cikarang from which the headway is 1 hour, 30 minutes, 20 minutes 15 minutes at peak hours, the smallest headway in Cikarang is 9 minutes so that later we can maximize the carrying capacity," said Anne.

"Then for the Rangkasbitung Commuter Line, maybe you also know that it could be more than 1 hour, 30 minutes, 40 minutes now 12 minutes for the smallest headway," he continued.

Furthermore, in Gapeka 2023, KAI Commuter also informed that there were an extension of 16 Rangkasbitung-Parungpanjang relations trips to Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang.

"Then there is an extension, there are 16 trips that we extended which used to serve Rangkasbitung to Parungpanjang and then returned to Rangkasbitung. We will reduce this number of trips from Rangkasbitung directly to Tanah Abang because it is possible so that the headway to Tanah Abang for Serpong, Parungpanjang and Rangkasbitung can be reduced because we see a volume growth of passengers in the Rangkasbitung area," said Anne.

Then, KAI Commuter also stated that there would be an increase in the journey of the Commuter Line Cikarang to 95 km/hour and the Tangerang Commuter Line to 75 km/hour.

"What has changed again is that from Manggarai Station to Duri and Batu Ceper, the speed of which was 75 km/hour, which was previously 70 km/hour. Especially for Bekasi yesterday, we were able to reach 90 km/hour by gradually completion for a double-double track. Then we saw that Bekasi Station had also started operating. Then Tambun Station prepared for the new building as well," he said.
