Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi Inaugurates Indonesian Consul General For Shanghai To Chicago
JAKARTA - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi inaugurated and took the oath of office of seven Consul Generals of the Republic of Indonesia for a number of friendly countries and international organizations on Monday.
Located in the Nusantara Room, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, those who were sworn in and sworn in were Berlianto Pandapotan Hasudungan as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Shanghai, the People's Republic of China; and Darianto Harsono as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Istanbul, Republic of T\"urkiye.
Next there is Edy Wardoyo who was inaugurated as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai, Republic of India; Bambang Gunawan as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Noumea, New Caledonia; and Tudiono as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Cape Town, South African Republic.
The last two names inaugurated today are Yusron Balauddin Ambary as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia concurrently with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC); and Listyowati as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Chicago, United States.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' extended family congratulates the inaugurated officials on their duties to carry out the new mandate entrusted. Congratulations to the country," wrote the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on its website, Monday, May 29.
It is known that diplomacy is formally carried out by both the diplomatic representative corps and by the consular representative corps, as quoted from the website of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The diplomatic representative Corps is led by a Ambassador while the consular representative corps is led by a Consul General.
The consulate is basically almost the same as the embassy, but its work area is only in handling consular relations or human relations and economic relations, excluding political relations.

The opening of diplomatic relations is a concrete effort to strengthen relations and cooperation with other countries which are ultimately expected to improve the welfare of the people in both countries.
The Indonesian government currently has 132 representatives consisting of 95 Embassys, 3 Permanent Missions for the United Nations in New York and Geneva, as well as Permanent Missions for ASEAN in Jakarta, 30 Consulate Generals and 4 Consulates of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition, Indonesia has also appointed 64 honorary Consuls.
