Tourists and Fishermen Asked by BMKG to Beware of Waves of 2.5 Meters in Nusa Dua Bali

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Region III Denpasar asked tourists and traditional fishermen to be aware of the potential for sea wave heights of up to 2.5 meters in the Nusa Dua tourist area, Badung Regency, Bali Province which is expected to occur on May 28-29 2023.

"Fishermen and marine tourism operators are aware of the potential for high sea waves in Nusa Dua," said Head of BMKG Region III Denpasar Cahyo Nugroho in Denpasar, Saturday, May 27.

While the wind speed is estimated to be up to 38 kilometers per hour or 20 knots moving from the east-southeast. The Nusa Dua area is directly adjacent to the Badung Strait to the east of Bali.

Based on BMKG estimates, the height of sea waves in the Badung Strait also reaches up to 2.5 meters.

The Nusa Dua area is a marine tourism and fishing area and the Badung Strait is a ferry route from Sanur Denpasar to Nusa Penida Island in Klungkung Regency and also a ferry crossing to Lombok Island.

Quoted from ANTARA, the BMKG explained that the weather conditions were caused by sea surface temperatures around the Bali area which ranged from 26-30 degrees Celsius and a mass of wet air concentrated in the surface layer up to a layer of 850 millibars or 3.000 meters.

Meanwhile, in general the weather in Bali is expected to be sunny from cloudy to cloudy.
